About your trip
Travel with purpose to rural Ecuador and work together with the local people on a community-led project to reduce global poverty. See and experience the impact of the ASEA Advancing Life Foundation in Ecuador.
We will be holding two expeditions in 2025, when you register please select from the following dates:
Expedition 1: May 31 to June 7, 2025
Expedition 2: June 7 to June 14, 2025
Travel Information
Arrive to Aeropuerto Mariscal Sucre (UIO) in Quito anytime on May 31st or June 7th . From there, all transportation in-country will be included
What's included
Accommodations
All accommodations during the Expedition are included.
Meals
Meals during the Expedition are included.
Local Transportation
Transportation within country are included during the Expedition.
In-Country Preparation
All logistics and details provided by our in-country team of development professionals is included.
Expedition Leaders
Your leaders for the Expedition are Certified according to CHOICE's very high standards of safety, care, and sustainable development in order to provide the most fulfilling experience for you!
Project Costs
Your Expedition Fee will help cover the cost of the project we will work on and future sustainable CHOICE projects.
What's not included
Airfare
Transportation to/from country are not included in your Expedition Fee.
Additional Accommodation
Extra hotel nights before or after the Expedition will not be covered by your Expedition Fee.
Extra Food/Snacks
You are welcome to bring/buy additional food/snacks outside of the food and snacks that will be provided.
Souvenirs
We will have the opportunity to purchase handmade goods from the local villagers, these are not covered in the expedition fee.
Day 1
Arrive to Quito
Participants must arrive to Aeropuerto Mariscal Sucre (UIO) anytime on Day 1.
Upon arrival, group transportation will be provided to the hotel for overnight accommodations.
As the second-largest metropolis of Ecuador, Quito is also the highest capital of the world at 9350' above sea level. Following centuries of indigenous rulers and epic battles, colonial Quito was established in 1534.
Day 2
Travel to Cotocachi
Expeditioner on day 2 will make a stop at the Intiñan Museam before traveling to Cotacachi (2 Hours). We will explore Cotacachi, visit volcano, and visit projects.
Group dinner will be scheduled to discuss trip details with local CHOICE staff and meet fellow participants.
Day 3 to Day 6
Visit Communities
Expedition 1
Day 3 Travel to San Rafael to work on community projects in the morning and family visits in the afternoon.
Day 4 Travel back to San Rafael to continue work on projects. Evening visit to totora and a boat ride.
Day 5 Travel to Intag, project in Pueblo Viejo, evening gathering with Apuela community in Inta Kara.
Day 6 Morning project in Apuela HS, travel back to Cotachi. Afternoon will finish project in San Rafael and have community Farewell.
Expedition 2
Travel to Illuman and work in community projects in the morning and family visits in the afternoon.
Day 4 Travel back to Illuman to continue work on projects. Evening visit to totora and a boat ride.
Day 5 Travel to Intag, project in IntaKara, evening gathering with Apuela community in Inta Kara.
Day 6 Morning project in Nangulvi, travel back to Cotachi. Afternoon will finish project in Illuman and have community Farewell.
Day 7
Travel back to Quito
Visit Otavalo Markets. Travel back to Quito. Will make a stop in the Peguche waterwall and have lunch in community as well. In the evening will have dinner at the Holiday Inn.
Day 8
Departure from Quito
Departures
Departure time should be after 12 PM.

The ASEA Advancing Life Foundation provides both funding and manpower to support the efforts of charities around the world. In developing countries, we partner with organizations which address issues such as extreme poverty or who partner with local villagers to develop clean water, infrastructure, food insecurities and ongoing education. In other parts of the world where that is not an issue, we seek out partners that support the needs and relief of children and families in need.
